DSE, CSE jt meeting held

The board of directors of both the stock exchanges Monday jointly reached in a common decision to form two committees for implementing some measures, including the formation of market makers.

The decision came at a meeting attended by the board of directors of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE). Shakil Rizvi of DSE and Al Maruf Khan of CSE led their respective bourses.

At the meeting both the stock exchanges opined to reduce the existing interest rates of bank loans, form the market makers, ensure the due roles of mutual funds and transparency in the companies' financial statements.

They also stressed on the implementation of Financial Reporting Act on an urgent basis.

To realise the proposed demands both the stock exchanges will form two separate committees comprised with the board members and the officials of the managements respectively.

The joint meeting put a thrust on streamlining efforts on restoring the investors’ confidence.

The meeting also asked the stakeholders for making a concerted drive to salvage the market from any crisis.
